n 2015, a homeless man named John decided to make his holiday season as festive as possible for himself and his homeless friends. So, he decorated a Christmas tree and placed it by his tent underneath the Pontchartrain Expressway in New Orleans.
John simply wanted the tree to help spread some cheer to those who may need it the most.
Strangers were quick to show their kindness. They stopped by to top off the tree with lights and a pretty bow. But much to John’s dismay, the tree was taken away by city workers who threw the tree in the trash.
He desperately chased after the garbage truck, then watched his beloved tree get smashed to bits. All he had left was his blue tent and a slab of empty concrete.
