Construction Worker Wrote Note To Sick Granny, Her Response Left Him Truly Humbled

It was an average work day for construction worker Jeff Reick. That was until Jeff spotted 88-year-old Gloria Porter watching him out of a hospital window. Jeff decided to write a little note for Gloria to brighten her day.

“I saw the lady at the window looking out, I thought it would be a kind gesture just to tell her to get well. I didn’t think much of it, I just tried to make someone feel a little better.”

Gloria was recovering in the hospital from a case of pneumonia. To pass the time, Gloria would watch the iron and steelworkers outside her window. The workers were renovating the hospital’s front entrance which was visible from Gloria’s third-floor room.

How did Jeff Reick and Gloria Porter’s unlikely friendship begin?
Gloria found herself watching the workers out of her window when one of them, Jeff, spotted her.

“This one guy looked over at us and waved, so we waved back,”
It was particularly cold and windy day, but Jeff and his team still managed to stay positive and get the job done.

Later on, Gloria noticed Jeff had left her a note. Jeff had managed to get hold of some chalk, he quickly scribbled a message to Gloria on the side of one of the beams of the hospital entrance. Jeff had written “Get well” on the side of the building.

This sweet message from Jeff really touched Gloria’s heart. She thought it was a very kind and considerate thing to do and it brought a smile to her face.
