Elder abuse is a serious ongoing problem. Those who are the dependent upon the others are at the highest risk of abuse, and many suffer in silence because they don’t want to trouble anyone.
When his mother had frequent injuries reportedly from “attacks by other residents” or maybe by “falling down”, Camille Parent decided to investigate it himself by installing a hidden camera in her room. What he discovered is enraging and heartbreaking at the same time. To his horror, he did not see footage of other residents harming his mother, but blatant abuse and disregard from the caretakers themselves.
This event happened at a nursing home in Peterborough, Ontario, but it could very well be happening at other similar establishments as well.
