Injured Dolphin Asked Diver For Help, But Nothing Had Prepared Them For What They Found

Dolphins are pretty spectacular creatures. It’s something we can’t deny, but like most animals, sometimes they find themselves in a spot of bother. Thankfully, this dolphin rescued by a diver was caught on film for us all to see.

During a night dive at the Garden Eel Cove in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, a bottlenose dolphin managed to get caught in a fishing line. Even though it was in distress, it managed to ask for help. That’s when scuba diver Keller Laros came to the rescue.

The dolphin’s left pectoral fin had become trapped, it was wrapped around the fishing line with a hunk wedged deep into its body.

The divers who came with equipment to help rescue the friendly creature signalled the dolphin to move towards them, amazingly, it responded.

The dolphin put all its trust into the divers who were there to help, thankfully, it did and they were more than accommodating.

Martina Wing caught the phenomenal footage on film. The dolphin seemed relaxed, even though it was in pain. The divers managed to carefully remove the hook. They then used scissors to cut out the fishing line out of the wound and out of the dolphin’s mouth.
