John Wayne was called king of Western. His real name is Marion Mike Morrison. He was born May 26, 1907 in the town of Winterset, Iowa. As a child, John Wayne was a quiet and clogged boy. He dreamed of being similar to the actor Rudolph Valentino. His father Clyde, a pharmacist by profession, had to move with his wife Mary and son Marion to a warmer climate in southern California because of lung disease, where he tried to farm on a ranch located near the Mojave Desert.
While the ranch went bankrupt, Marion and his younger brother Robert swam in the irrigation canals and on horseback went to school. Then the family moved to Glendale, where Marion helped his father by taking medication to customers and selling Newspapers.
