Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, orangutans are currently only found in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. There are three species of orangutans in the world, one of which was only recognized in 2017. All three of them are critically endangered. Orangutans are the most arboreal of the great apes and spend most of their time in trees. They are also one of the most intelligent species in the world.
Even though orangutans are said to be the most solitary of the great apes, they love bonding with other animals. Just take for example, the orangutan in the video below.
