A police officer from Phoenix, Arizona, was caught on camera giving a new pair of shoes to a homeless man (video below).

In the clip, which quickly went viral after being posted online, Officer Mark Valenzuela can be seen kneeling on the ground, helping a homeless man put on a pair of shoes that he purchased for him. The man is sitting in the back of a police van.

Resident Raymond Celaya caught Valenzuela helping the man and decided to film the selfless act. He told KNXV that he filmed the incident to show the nature of the police officers in Phoenix.

“Officer, here, giving a homeless guy free shoes. Brand new shoes,” Celaya says in the clip.

“That just shows exactly how much are officers help the community and protect the community.”

After the officer gives the man the shoes, he helps him to his feet and sees him off before driving away.

Many readers praised Valenzuela for helping the homeless man and going above and beyond the call of duty.

“That’s why I always have a Big respect with police officers and other uniforms. They really truly a blessed in our society to serve and protect for all of us just to be safe. And yet they still be the one got to be blame even though they give their life on the lines for the safety of everyone.

I don’t understand while people have to protest for hating cops. I Salute you Officer Valenzuela God bless you more,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“That’s the way real cops behave, why doesn’t anyone look closer at the homeless? They’re not on welfare like so many able bodied people, and most homeless have mental issues. All you snowflakes and illegals sucking off of our tax dollars should be ashamed! The homeless are the true needy,” another wrote.

“This is a reminder of what Jesus is teaching. Kindness goes a long way to help someone less fortunate. We need to remember that someday that could be us or someone we love. We don’t know what happened to this man nor does it matter. Be kind to all,” another added.

“Our men in Blue do so much beyond the call of duty, and they will continue to be blessed by God. We the people should always respect and thank our police officers,” another reader wrote.
