Borax is one of those ingredients that many people have heard of, but don’t have a clue what it really is or does. Borax is made up of oxygen, sodium, water, and boron. The inexpensive, natural ingredient has so many uses in your home that everyone should try!

Kill unwanted bugs: Getting rid of pesky bugs in your home usually involves harsh chemicals or dangerous traps. But you can mix powdered sugar with borax and place it on a piece of wax paper. Then, slip the paper under the fridge or cabinets. Then get rid of the dead bugs easily and naturally.

Fertilize plants: Using a very small amount of borax on your plants will not only help them grow but it will help them thrive. Just make sure not to use too much cause it can have the opposite effect.

Make candle wicks: Are you a DIY person? Combine 3 tablespoons of borax, 1 cup of boiling water and 1 tablespoon of salt. Then, soak a long string of twine in the mixture for 24 hours and let it dry for two days. Boom. You have yourself some homemade candle wicks!

Cleaning the toilet: Pour a cup of borax in your toilet and let it set overnight. The next morning, scrub it with a toilet brush – no need for bleach!

Get rid of harmful mold in your bathroom: Create a thick paste by mixing water and borax together. Apply the paste to the areas in your bathroom where mold is/can grow and let it sit overnght. Brush away the powder the next morning and rinse it to reveal a like-new look!

Clean stinky underwear: Washing machines can ruin that favorite bra of yours. Borax to the rescue! Simply mix 1/4 cup of borax, laundry detergent, and very warm water. Then let the undergarments soak for about 30 minutes, rinse and hang dry. Your bra will look and smell as good as new without damaging them.

Unclog drains: Clogged drain? No problem! Pour a 1/2 cup of borax down the drain. Slowly pour two cups of boiling water into the drain and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. Feel free to repeat as needed.

Clean your pans: Pots and pans lose their ‘shine’ over time. Revive your pans by letting them soak in borax for about 10 minutes. Then, simply wipe away the leftover ingredients with a soft rag.
