An Ohio mom is voicing her outrage after her young daughter came home and told her about something absolutely shocking that had happened at her school.

Ashley Coughenour’s 9-year-old daughter, Ella, is in the third grade at Sterling Morton Elementary School. According to Ashley, the students in her little girl’s class had been excited to show off their classroom “Elf on a Shelf” to a substitute teacher who was filling in on December 13, 2017.

At that point, the teacher allegedly dropped some earth-shattering news on the group of kids: that Santa Claus and elves aren’t real.

“[My daughter] immediately just broke into tears and she said that the teacher told her that Santa Claus isn’t real, Christmas isn’t real, and Christmas elves aren’t real — it’s all made up. […] I was angry. I was heartbroken. Because that was taken away from my daughter. And it hurt,” Ashley recalled.
