Dogs are called man’s best friend and not without reason. They are the most loving, loyal and devoted companion that we can find. You might have seen some dog-obsessed people in your life who coo oever every dog they meet or see. But this couple in Costa Rica took their love for dogs to a whole new level.
In 2006, Lya Battle and husband Alvaro Saume adopted two pups from a shelter. That was a turning point for them. Soon after that, they started to notice more and more strays that roamed the streets of Costa Rica.

Their hearts couldn’t bear leaving the homeless dogs on the streets, so they took them in. Not long after that, their home was filled with 100 dogs. They were running out of space and fast.
