Man Rescues Dog From Slaughterhouse And She Won’t Stop Hugging Him

It isn’t unheard of (though it is absolutely disgusting and upsetting) for restaurants in Cambodia to serve dog meat. Because of this, there are many meat farms that are essentially slaughterhouses.

Michael Chour, founder of The Sound of Animals, created his organization to save dogs from the meat trade in Southeast Asia where it is particularly bad. Chour has become an advocate of the fight against dog consumption and has seen quite a bit of success in rescuing some dogs slated for slaughter.

One such dog was found in Chomkachek, Cambodia. She was cowering in the back corner of a cage, dreadfully awaiting her doom. It was then that Chour became her knight in shining armour by stepping in and taking action. He spoke to the owner of the facility and negotiated the release of 17 dogs, including this little one that he later named Sweety.

All of the dogs were moved to a temporary shelter in O Smach, Cambodia, where they would have their health assessed before being moved to a large dog shelter run by The Sound of Animals in Ban Kruat District, Thailand.
