The expression “live like a cat with a dog” refers more to people than to cats and dogs who can live under one roof in the world. And why not, if animals are constantly close to you, they are well fed and therefore no claims to each other have not.
They remain, as not to co-exist together: the warmth, comfort and feeding. They develop certain relationships, develop standards of behavior relative to each other. Under the control of the owners, for example, even a cat can normally perceive of a dove that settled in the apartment.
