As we celebrate our freedom with picnics and family gatherings, we need to remember the men and woman that sacrifice so much for us.
Our American heroes put their lives on the line everyday so that we can live in the greatest country in the world. Not all of our heroes have two legs though some have 4. They are known as the “war dogs” and they have been fighting along with the soldiers for years. Some of their duties include victim recovery and bomb search.
Army sergeant Tom Hansen served with a canine partner named Taylor, affectionately known as Tay-Tay. But like many canine partners, when Hansen went back to the states, she had to be left behind. She spent her time in a military kennel until official retirement. The dogs are then put up for adoption and if the soldiers can adopt the dog themselves, but they have to pay for everything themselves.
One devoted citizen, Molli Oliver, makes it her mission to arrange for the reunions of the handler and their retired canine partner. It’s not an easy job she has to use her own resources to do it, flying with the dog.
“I love the dogs! I love my military! That’s taken care of my freedom my whole life, so it’s a win-win to combine the two,” Oliver said.
On this day Hansen is waiting at the airport, he’s excited but a also a bit nervous. Tay tay is finally making her way home to him.
Their reunion is extremely heartwarming! Get your tissues ready! Don’t take your eyes off the video for one moment or you may miss the exciting moment!
