Audrey is a six year old from Kentucky who suffers from Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA); a life threatening bone marrow disease. Audrey and her family have decided to spread awareness about this disease hoping to raise money for a cure. Her videos have gone viral on YouTube and though she may look energetic in the videos, her parents explain that she is usually worn out and in pain from the disease.
Despite her condition though, her view on life is always positive. She was invited by Zumba to open the International Zumba Conference in Orlando and the following video features her performance with her local instructors and some of the best Zumba dancers in the Zumba community. She definitely does light up the stage doesn’t she?!
Meet Audrey Nethery, a spunky 6-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky. She loves to listen to music, and collect dolls and stuffed animals. But it’s her love of dancing – particularly Zumba – that has taken social media by storm, melting the hearts of strangers, while putting the rare, underresearched blood disorder she suffers from – Diamond Blackfan Anemia – in the spotlight. Now we want to help her get on Ellen.
As a result of her DBA, young Audrey has already undergone 20 blood transfusions, and her growth is notably slower than that of other kids, in part, because of the steroids she has to take.
