According to the National Bullying Prevention Center, more than 20 percent of students have been, or currently are being, bullied. This means more than one out of every five children feel uncomfortable at school, around their peers or at home.

One such student is Keaton Jones from Knoxville, Tennessee. Keaton spends his days at school avoiding the handful of bullies who try their best to make him feel lesser.

But, after one especially tough day at school, Keaton asked his mother, Kimberly, to record an emotional video…

It all began when Kimberly received a call from her beloved boy during his lunch hour. A tearful Keaton explained that one of his bullies actually dumped milk on his shirt and stuffed lunchmeat down his clothing.

This was the last straw for Keaton and he didn’t feel safe at school anymore. Kimberly immediately rushed to the school and picked up Keaton. But, instead of wanting a hug from his mom or a special treat, Keaton asked her to grab her phone and start recording.

Keaton looked into the camera and shared how much bullying can hurt people.

He said:

“Just out of curiosity, why do they bully? What’s the point of it? Why do they find joy in taking innocent people and find a way to be mean to them? It’s not OK… People that are different don’t need to be criticised about it. It’s not their fault. If you are made fun of, just don’t let it bother you.”
