When you hear of family musical groups, images of lederhosen, unique songs and big smiles come into mind. But when one Welsh mother named Mel decided to audition for Britain’s Got Talent with her 15-year-old son, Jamie, the old notions of a “family band” went flying out the window.
None of the judges were prepared for such a beautiful, emotionally raw performance from these two!
Before jumping into their rendition of “Say Something” by A Great Big World, Mel told the judges that this was the moment she dreamed of years ago.
“To perform onstage with my son is going to be one of the proudest moments of my life.”
After listening to their backstory, everyone in the audience was ready to hear them sing. The judges wished them well and watched eagerly as the background music clicked on. It was now or never for Jamie and his mom!
They felt comfortable on the stage and confident in their months of preparation. It was clear to everyone sitting in the theater that their hard work paid off. Jamie’s impressive vocals rang through the theater as Mel sang more of a backup. Even though they were a duet, Mel wanted to let her son’s talent shine!
